Cousin Meet Cousins for The First Time

Roan met his little cousins for the first time today. So excited he did a little dance.

Hiccup Trick

Marta, our lovely cleaning lady, told us that in her home country of Guatemala, that if a baby has hiccups the put something red on their forehead. Bindis would have been most appropriate, but a piece of ribbon worked just right. She stopped after 1 minute (and decided to cry instead).

Can't Be Afraid to Get Dirty

Just got peed on by not one but both daughters. They look innocent but I think they know what they were doing. The aim was surprisingly suspicious.

Grandparents to The Rescue

The two nicest things my mother in-law did for me today. Pork loin and soothing the crying baby.

Girls Sleeping in Crib

There is all this science behind twins apparently connecting with each other from birth. I don't know much about that, right now these girls just appear to want to eat and sleep and don't like daddy messing with them too much. But then pictures like this make me wonder.

Two Girls in a Moses Basket

So here is a video of our lovely ladies in their new Moses Baskets. Apparently a Moses basket is the preferred method of transport that Jesus Christ would have chosen for newborn infants. What is good enough for JC is good enough for our babies.

Feeding Time

So pretty much everything we have been doing the past two weeks has been around feeding and cleaning these two babies. They are on a rigid 3 hour sleep/feed schedule, which means we are on a rigid 3 hour sleep/feed schedule. That includes around the clock, but fortunately me (Olivier) has gotten off doing the late night feeds while Radhika does the 3AM and Anu (Gigi to her granddaughters) does early morning. We would be lost without our relatives help right now. They are feeding us and cleaning up lots of poop.

Video of Lyla Just Having Been Fed in NICU

As I mentioned before, the NICU was a crazy place. Before we got the babies home, they were hooked up to all these monitors that constantly kept track of their heartrate, oxygen saturation, and a bunch of other things. Obviously they were closely monitored. But the NICU nurses encouraged us to diaper the babies, and feed them, which is a task that we are getting better at daily. Here is a short video of a post-fed Lyla.

Isabelle and Lyla Delfosse born

Born 12/11/09 at 4:21 AM Isabelle Genevieve Delfosse was 3lbs, 10oz and measured 16 inches. 1 minute later her sister, Lyla Anupama Delfosse joined us, weighing in at 3lbs, 9 oz, and measured 16 inches. We were tired and elated. The girls then spent the next two weeks in the Cedars-Sinai Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were healthy but small, and the whole experience gave me a massive respect for neo-natal and postpartum nurses. In the scheme of things our babies weren't born that early so we didn't have any major issues, but if anyone is trying to decide where to have babies in LA, do it at Cedars. It is an incredible hospital. Our Twin girls share their birthday with their mother, Radhika.
